Dr. David Wei is a Medical Director of Orthopedics at ModMed. He is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Hand and Upper Extremity surgery. Dr. Wei serves as the Chief Clinical Information Officer at Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery Specialists, Greenwich, CT (part of Spire Orthopedic Partners) and chairs the Business of Hand Surgery Committee for the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
Dr. Wei's surgical expertise includes microsurgical nerve reconstruction, arthroscopic treatment of wrist and elbow disorders, tendon reconstruction and repair, and endoscopic treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. He diagnoses and treats various upper extremity conditions in both pediatric and adult patients, such as arthritis, fractures, sports injuries and nerve compression syndromes.
Graduating from Yale University with honors, Dr. Wei holds a combined Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. He earned his medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed his residency training at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University. Subsequently, he pursued fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at Tufts University Medical Center/New England Baptist Hospital.
Dr. Wei has authored and published numerous peer-reviewed articles in esteemed orthopedic journals. He has been invited to present his work at various regional, national and international meetings for associations such as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA), American Orthopaedic Association (AOA), and the Congress of the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopedics and Traumatology.
