Dr. Eric Jennings is the Medical Director of Ophthalmology. He is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, refractive surgery and corneal and external disease management. Dr. Jennings completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia, graduating with honors. He then received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency and a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery at the University of Florida Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. During his residency, he served as Chief Resident and was recognized with several awards including Resident of the Year and the Teaching Scholars Outstanding Educator. Dr. Jennings is a referral Ophthalmologist in Atlanta, Georgia where he specializes in cataract, refractive and corneal surgery. His other interests include AI in healthcare and digital health solutions. In addition, his experience as a consultant, beta tester and super user has allowed him to integrate the latest technology into his practice and help innovate new technology used in medicine and healthcare. In addition, Dr. Jennings serves as the Medical Director of Ophthalmology for Modmed, curating medical content, coding the front end for Ophthalmology users and networking with administrators, physicians and staff across the country.
Dr. Jennings is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology. He has been an active participant in several clinical studies, including helping to pioneer pre-loaded DMEK (corneal transplant) tissue.
